David Bowie is one of the most important performers of the XX century, but we cannot deny that Ziggy Stardust is one of the things that made him reach the stardom. Ziggy Stardust, a persona created by Bowie himself in 1972 was actually a alien that came to Earth to share hope to humanity, once that our planet would be destroyed by the lack of natural resources ( yeah, Bowie predicted what would happen to us ).
And this year the album “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” ( elected the best album of the 70’s ) completes 40 years!!!
The character, wich David Bowie played only until July of 1973 was also the first glam rocker of all the time and a revolutionary in music and fashion. He embodies the androgyny and a whole new aesthetic that would be the reference during the late 70’s and the early 80’s, he was an influence of thousands of others artists, as Boy George, Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga. Moreover, inspired in David Bowie, Vogue has launched 2 editorials, one with Kate Moss for Vogue Paris and one with Daphe Guiness for Deutsch Vogue, in the last months.
Here bellow there’s my favorite music from this album, “Starman” and a trailer of “Velvet Goldmine”, an amazing movie, with Oscar, Bafta and Cannes nominations, that was based in Ziggy.
Hope you enjoy it!
